Marcia Major is the founder and CEO of MajorReach, which was established with the vision of seeing people live Inspired, Empowered, and Accomplished lives. She has discovered how to turn her losses into lessons that have helped her become a successful businesswoman, entrepreneur, business advisor, mentor, and personal strategist. She enjoys sharing practical Biblical tools and insights which equip people to reach their maximum potential. She strongly believes “Those that know their God shall be strong and will do great and Mighty Exploits” (Daniel 11:32). An anointed and powerful motivational speaker, she encourages and strengthens others to take the step of Faith and become all God created them to be. Her motto is "Never Normalize your Normal, what is Normal to You is Abnormally Unique and Awe Inspiring to others".
She is married to Elliott Major and the couple has three amazing children, Greg, Lauryn, and Natalie. Along with her husband, Marcia has anchored herself as a successful business owner and community champion in the Roanoke Valley. She is a residential and commercial real estate investor, owning 7 companies and is the CEO of Valor Rising, which operates the Dorcus Home a transitional living center for former inmates.
Marcia was born in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Louis and Millie Davis. She credits her parents for imparting a love for studying the Word of God and her deep passion for serving others. After graduating high school, she received a full academic scholarship to attend the University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering with honors. Proctor and Gamble awarded her a 4-year paid college internship. In 1991, she graduated as one of the nation’s Top 200 Women in Engineering and Top 50 African American Women in Engineering. During college, she was initiated into the Mu Zeta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Marcia continues her lifetime commitment of service as a proud member of the Roanoke Alumnae Chapter.
Upon graduation, she accepted a job with the DuPont, Nashville, TN. Advancing rapidly in her professional career she was viewed as a cutting-edge leader, peer mentor-coach and problem solver. Her professional engineering career spans more than 25 years working for many Fortune 500 Companies also including PPG Industries, Abbott Laboratories, and Hospira. Marcia left corporate America in 2011 and began her journey as an entrepreneur and business owner in Roanoke VA.
Marcia has always enjoyed teaching the Word of God. She has been a WTOY 1580am Radio Host for the noonday segment Lunch with God. In 2016, she received an Honorary Doctor of Ministry from Word of Life Theological Seminary, Roanoke VA which solidified the call upon her life to minister to others, especially business owners. This honor was dear to her heart, she states “I believe this degree was long overdue. it is not one I have earned but rather it is one that belongs to my hero, a man I never met., my great-grandfather Rev. Isaiah S. Dixon born as a slave in 1852. A self-taught preacher my great-grandpa was instrumental in planting local church-schools in South Carolina. I can only hope that my endeavors will impact others as did great-grandpa Isaiah“
She is an active and faithful member of Valley Church Roanoke. She is also a member of the Tribe Network International Apostolic Ministries and participated in her first international missions trip, Impact Belize in November 2017. Currently, she is completing her 1st Novel “Shadow Seasons” Knowing the Lord in Times of Solitude scheduled for release Fall 2019.
